📱 Purchase & Upgrade
How do I upgrade to premium?
To unlock premium features in Eter:
- Open the Eter app on your device
- Go to Settings (gear icon)
- Tap “Unlock Premium Features” or “Upgrade”
- Complete the one-time in-app purchase
Before unlocking premium features, you’ll see the Unlock Premium Features screen outlining the benefits of upgrading and the price in your local currency.
How much does the premium upgrade cost?
The premium upgrade is a one-time in-app purchase. Pricing varies by region because Apple sets local prices using currency conversion rates.
- United States: USD $8.99
- Canada: CAD $9.99
- Europe: EUR €10.99–€11.99 (varies by country)
- United Kingdom: GBP £8.99
When you go to unlock premium features, you’ll see the exact price in your local currency before you pay.
Eter occasionally runs limited-time promotions that discount the premium price. Follow us on X/Twitter or Mastodon to hear about special offers.
Is the premium upgrade a subscription?
No. Eter premium is not a subscription. It is a one-time purchase that permanently unlocks premium features on all your devices using the same Apple ID.
Once you pay for premium, there are no recurrin
g charges or ongoing fees. You’ll continue to get new premium features and improvements in future updates at no extra cost.
Why are some features premium-only?
Developing and maintaining Eter takes significant time and resources. Offering a premium upgrade helps support continued development and ensures Eter can remain free to download and use for everyone.
Premium features—like saving favorites and customizing the sleep timer—require more development work and ongoing server costs. By making these optional features part of a paid upgrade, we can keep the core Eter experience free while funding new features and improvements for all users.
What premium features are included?
When you upgrade to Eter premium, you unlock the following features:
- Favorites: Save an unlimited number of favorite stations for quick access
- Sleep Timer: Set a sleep timer to stop playback after a set duration
- Custom Themes: Choose from additional color themes to match your style
- Background Album Art: Display album art behind controls during playback
- Soon: Additional premium-only features like advanced audio quality options and customizable icons
Premium also removes occasional upgrade reminders and helps support ongoing development of Eter.
Do premium features sync across devices?
Yes. Premium features automatically sync across all your devices using iCloud as long as you’re signed in with the same Apple ID. Once you unlock premium on one device, it’s unlocked on all your other devices too.
If the premium upgrade doesn’t appear on a second device, ensure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID and restart the Eter app. If it still doesn’t unlock, select “Restore Purchases” in the upgrade screen (only available on iPhone/iPad) or contact our support at support@apparentsoft.com.
Do I need to pay separately on iOS and Mac?
No. The premium upgrade is shared across iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS and CarPlay when you’re signed in with the same Apple ID. You only pay once and get premium features on all Eter platforms.
If the premium features don’t unlock automatically on Mac after purchasing on iPhone or iPad, restart Eter on Mac. You can also choose Restore Purchases from the File menu in the Mac version.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
If you previously purchased Eter premium and want to unlock it on a new device:
- Ensure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID you used for the original purchase
- Open Eter
- Go to Settings → Unlock Premium Features
- Tap Restore Purchases
Apple will verify your previous purchase and unlock premium features on the new device.
If the restore fails or doesn’t unlock premium, contact our support.
🧾 Billing & Pricing
I can’t see the price in my region
The premium price should automatically show in your local currency on the upgrade screen before you pay. If the price isn’t loading or you’re seeing a blank value:
- Ensure your device is connected to the internet
- Check that you’re signed in to the App Store with a valid Apple ID
- Restart the Eter app
If the price still doesn’t appear, contact us and mention your region and device type. We can check if there’s a temporary pricing issue in your country and let you know when it’s resolved.
Why is pricing different by country?
Apple sets local App Store pricing by converting the USD price into local currency and adding taxes or VAT where required by law. Because currency exchange rates and taxes vary by country, the premium price you see in the App Store will differ by region.
We do not control local pricing differences. However, we try to keep the base price aligned across countries. Occasionally Apple may adjust the price in certain countries independently of our base price.
Can I get a refund on the premium upgrade?
Apple handles all refunds for purchases made through the App Store. If you accidentally bought the upgrade or aren’t satisfied with premium features, you can request a refund through Apple:
- Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID
- Find your Eter premium purchase
- Click Report a Problem
- Select a reason and submit your request
Apple typically reviews refund requests within a few days. If your refund is approved, premium features will be revoked on all your devices.
If Apple doesn’t grant a refund and you feel there’s an issue with the app, contact us and we’ll see how we can help.
Can I share premium with Family Sharing?
Yes, Eter premium is fully supported by Apple’s Family Sharing system. When you purchase the premium upgrade, you can share it with up to 5 additional family members in your Apple Family Sharing group.
To share premium with family members:
- Ensure Family Sharing is enabled on your Apple ID (Settings → Family on iOS)
- Add family members to your group
- Ask them to download Eter from the App Store and sign in with their Apple ID
Once your family member opens Eter, premium features will automatically be unlocked for them.
If a family member isn’t seeing premium features, ensure they’re part of your Family Sharing group and are signed in with their own Apple ID. They may need to restart Eter or tap Restore Purchases.
How do I gift premium to someone else?
Currently, Eter premium can only be purchased via in-app purchase tied to your own Apple ID. Unfortunately, there isn’t a direct gifting option through the App Store for in-app purchases.
However, you can gift an App Store & iTunes gift card to your friend or family member so they can purchase premium themselves.
To gift a digital App Store gift card:
- Open the App Store → tap your profile picture
- Choose Send Gift Card by Email
- Enter the recipient’s email and amount
- Send the gift card
Your recipient can then redeem the gift card and purchase Eter premium within the app.
Do promotions stack with Family Sharing?
No. Promotions and discounts apply only to the purchaser’s Apple ID. If you buy premium at a promotional price, your family members will still get premium through Family Sharing, but there’s no additional discount or stacking. Each family can only redeem the offer once.
Will my premium ever expire?
No. Once you unlock premium, you keep it forever on all your devices with the same Apple ID. There are no recurring charges and your premium license does not expire.
Future versions of Eter may introduce optional subscription-based add-ons, but they will not affect existing premium owners.

📡 Stations & Content
How many radio stations are available?
Eter provides access to over 30,000 internet radio stations worldwide. Our database includes a wide range of genres and sources, including:
- Music (pop, rock, jazz, classical, electronic, folk, metal, etc.)
- Talk radio and podcasts
- News and sports
- Community and college radio
- Religious and spiritual stations
- International stations from dozens of countries
We’re continually adding new stations based on user suggestions and partnerships. If you can’t find a specific station, let us know and we’ll try to add it.
Can I add my own station URL?
Not currently. Eter’s catalog is curated and centrally managed so we can ensure streams are stable and legal. We plan to add user-submitted stations in a future update. For now, please send station suggestions to support@apparentsoft.com and we’ll look into adding them.
Why isn’t my favorite station available?
If you can’t find your favorite station in Eter:
- Check if it’s spelled correctly
- Try searching by genre, city or country
- Ensure the station broadcasts online and allows external streaming
Some stations limit or block third-party streaming apps. Others may only broadcast within certain regions due to licensing. If a station doesn’t meet our streaming guidelines or is geo-restricted, it may not be available in Eter.
Feel free to send us the station’s name or streaming URL and we’ll see if we can add it in the future.
How do favorites work?
Favorites let you save stations for quick access across all your devices. To add a station to favorites:
- Find the station in the Browse tab
- Tap the heart icon
- The station will appear in the Favorites tab
You can remove a favorite by tapping the heart icon again. Favorites sync via iCloud across all devices with Eter premium.
Can I create playlists or queues?
Not yet. Eter currently streams stations live and doesn’t support building a playlist of stations or queueing different stations. We may explore playlist functionality in future releases, but it’s not planned in the near term.
Does Eter have on-demand content or podcasts?
No. Eter focuses on live internet radio streams. For on-demand content or podcasts, consider apps like Apple Podcasts, Overcast, or Castro.
How do you choose which stations to include?
We curate stations based on several criteria:
- Popularity: Well-known stations across major genres and regions
- Stability: Streams that are reliable and have minimal downtime
- Legality: Stations that have proper licensing to stream worldwide
- Diversity: A broad mix of genres, languages and regions
User feedback also influences which stations we prioritize for addition. If a station gets multiple requests, we’ll work to add it sooner.
Why are some stations missing album art?
Album art and track metadata come directly from the station’s stream, so availability varies. Some stations provide detailed metadata with album art; others only send basic Now Playing information. When album art isn’t available, Eter falls back to a default graphic.
We’re working on improving metadata retrieval and enriching station details in future updates.
How can I request a station?
To request a station, email us at support@apparentsoft.com with:
- Station name
- Streaming URL (if you know it)
- Country/region
- Any additional info (genre, language, etc.)
We review station requests regularly and add new stations in batches. We’ll reply to let you know if we can include your suggestion.
Do stations drop out or buffer?
Occasional buffering can happen due to network issues or overloaded streams. If a station frequently drops out:
- Check your internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular)
- Try a lower-quality stream if available
- Restart the app
If multiple stations are buffering, there may be an issue with your connection or with the Eter servers. Contact us if problems persist.
🔊 Playback & Controls
Does Eter support background audio?
Yes. Eter continues playing in the background while you use other apps or when your device is locked. Background audio support is built-in on iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, macOS and tvOS.
How do I control playback?
You can control playback in several ways:
- Eter app: Use play/pause, skip and volume controls in the Now Playing screen
- Control Center: Access playback controls from Control Center on iOS/iPadOS/macOS
- Lock Screen: Control playback from the Lock Screen on iOS/iPadOS
- CarPlay: Use your vehicle’s controls or the CarPlay screen
- Siri: Use voice commands like “Hey Siri, play station X in Eter” (coming in a future update)
Can I change stream quality?
Currently, Eter does not let you manually choose stream quality. Stations provide a single stream quality that we connect to. We may add adjustable stream quality (low/medium/high) in future versions.
Is there a sleep timer?
Yes. Premium users can set a sleep timer to automatically stop playback after a set amount of time. To use the sleep timer:
- Start playing a station
- Tap the moon icon in the Now Playing screen
- Choose a timer duration (15m, 30m, 45m, 60m, or custom)
The stream will stop when the timer expires.
Does Eter support crossfading between stations?
No. Since Eter streams live radio stations, crossfading between stations isn’t possible. When you switch stations, the new station begins playing immediately.
Can I rewind or skip within a station?
No. Live internet radio streams don’t support rewinding or skipping within the current track. You can only switch between different stations.
Does Eter show song lyrics?
Not currently. We may add lyrics or a link to lyrics in future updates for stations that provide track metadata.
Can I see upcoming songs?
No. Stations broadcast live, so it isn’t possible to see upcoming songs. Some stations may announce upcoming tracks verbally, but Eter doesn’t have a feature to show what’s coming next.
Why does Eter stop playing when I leave the app?
Eter should continue playing in the background. If playback stops when leaving the app:
- Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled in device settings
- Check that your device isn’t in Low Power Mode
- Make sure volume isn’t muted by the side switch or Focus modes
If the problem persists, try restarting your device. Also ensure Eter is updated to the latest version.
Can I use Siri voice commands?
Siri support is planned for a future update. Once available, you’ll be able to use commands like:
- “Hey Siri, play rock radio in Eter”
- “Hey Siri, pause Eter”
- “Hey Siri, resume playing in Eter”
Does Eter support AirPlay and Bluetooth?
Yes. Eter works with AirPlay receivers (e.g., HomePod, Apple TV) and Bluetooth speakers/headphones. Use the AirPlay or Bluetooth button in the Now Playing screen to choose your output device.
Can I use picture-in-picture on iOS or macOS?
Not applicable. Eter is an audio-only app, so there’s no video playback to support picture-in-picture.
Can I enable gapless playback?
No. Because Eter streams live radio, gapless playback settings don’t apply. When you switch stations, there may be a short pause while the new stream connects.
Does Eter support EQ or audio enhancements?
Currently, Eter doesn’t include built-in equalizer or audio enhancements. You can use system-level EQ settings (e.g., on iOS: Settings → Music → EQ) or external audio processors.
👤 Account & Sync
Do I need an account to use Eter?
No. Eter doesn’t require you to create an account. You can download the app and start listening without registering.
Premium purchases and favorites sync use your Apple ID via iCloud for authentication but don’t require a separate Eter account.
How do I sync favorites across devices?
Favorites and premium status sync automatically via iCloud as long as you:
- Are signed in with the same Apple ID on all devices
- Have iCloud Drive enabled (Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → iCloud Drive)
- Have Eter toggled on under iCloud settings
Once those conditions are met, your favorites should appear across all devices. Syncing may take a few minutes. If favorites aren’t syncing, try toggling iCloud Drive off and on again.
Are my favorites and data stored securely?
Yes. Favorites are stored in your private iCloud storage, encrypted and only accessible by your devices. We don’t collect or store your listening history or personal data on our servers.
Can I export or backup my favorites?
Currently, favorites cannot be exported outside of iCloud. We may add an export option in the future.
Can I use different Apple IDs on different devices?
Premium and favorites sync rely on iCloud, so you need to use the same Apple ID across devices. If you use different Apple IDs, your premium purchase and favorites won’t sync.
You can still use Eter with different Apple IDs, but premium will only be available on the Apple ID that purchased it, and favorites will be separate on each account.
How do I delete my data from Eter?
Eter stores minimal data (favorites and settings) in iCloud. To delete this data:
- Go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Eter
- Tap Delete Data
This will remove Eter’s data from iCloud. If you reinstall Eter later, the app will start fresh without your previous favorites.
🛠 Troubleshooting
The app crashes or freezes
If Eter crashes, freezes, or becomes unresponsive:
- Force quit Eter and reopen it
- Restart your device
- Ensure you’re running the latest version of Eter
- Check for iOS/iPadOS/watchOS/macOS/tvOS updates and install if available
If the issue continues, contact our support and provide details about your device model, OS version and what you were doing when the crash occurred.
Stations won’t load or buffer constantly
Buffering or failure to load can be caused by network issues or the station’s server. Try the following:
- Test your internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular)
- Switch to a different network
- Try streaming at a different time
- Restart the app
If a particular station consistently fails to load, let us know and we’ll investigate.
My Apple Watch isn’t syncing favorites
If favorites aren’t appearing on your Apple Watch:
- Check that Eter is installed on your watch
- Ensure your watch is connected to Wi-Fi or your iPhone
- Make sure iCloud is enabled and you’re using the same Apple ID on your watch and iPhone
- Restart both devices
If favorites still don’t sync, try reinstalling Eter on the watch or contact us for assistance.
The sleep timer didn’t stop the music
If the sleep timer doesn’t stop playback:
- Ensure you actually started the sleep timer (an icon appears when active)
- Check that your device isn’t in Low Power Mode or that Background App Refresh is disabled
- Try a shorter timer duration
If problems persist, let us know. We’ll investigate and fix any bugs.
Why do I need iOS 15 or later?
Eter requires iOS 15, iPadOS 15, macOS 12, watchOS 8, tvOS 15 and later because we rely on modern system features (like improved networking APIs, SwiftUI features and iCloud enhancements) that aren’t available on older OS versions.
Supporting older OS versions would limit our ability to add new features and deliver a smooth experience. We recommend updating your devices to the latest OS version.
The app says I need an internet connection but I’m connected
If Eter reports that it’s offline even when you have an internet connection:
- Toggle Airplane Mode on and off
- Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular
- Restart your device
If the message continues, it could be a temporary service outage. Check our status page or contact us for updates.
